This is a great, classic Tonka truck.
Metal construction.
Takes a beating. My boys have had theirs for several years.
It now lives in a wooden storage box in the playground area near the sandbox and still is dragged out periodically. It is a magnet for the 3-4 year old set and still is fun for boys a little older. It is HUGE.

This looked like the Tonka Backhoe we had purchased for my son some 20 years ago, and the price was higher, but this is no where near the quality of a CLASSIC TONKA BACKHOE! Steel construction? Seven pounds? NOT!!! When ours was destroyed in a fire last year, the metal didn’t all melt…there is very little “steel” and lots of plastic on this “classic” version. Definitely not worth the $75.00 asking price and the weight is not even close to 7 pounds. Very misleading product description from seller. I doubt this will last 20 years like the original one did! Very, very disappointed and feel very taken advantage of. Are you sure this is the same Tonka Classics Backhoe everyone else has reviewed?

My grandson loves playing with his Tonka backhoe. He is learning eye-hand coordination and problem-solving every time he creates a “project” for his new toy. He has learned how to pick up objects with the scoop and what to do when his first plan doesn’t work. The toy is sturdily built and we expect it to last for years.

Hill’s went above and beyond the call of duty with an order error. They made sure I had my son’s birthday gift in time for his big day!! This is a company that truly cares about their customers!!

Tonkas used to be awesome. Practically indestructible. Then they started making the plastic ones…..ugh. These do have some plastic but it is mostly steel. nice. back to being almost indestructible.
